Jinding, a major Chinese player in the production of power tools, asked VanBerlo to design 22 power tools in the opening price point category, including both corded and cordless tools. The challenge was to create a family look among the 22 different power tools that would strike the right balance between a distinctive styling with a wow-factor on the one hand, and a more common understated look on the other. Starting with a Design DNA for the whole range and ending with detailed visual CAD models for every single tool, VanBerlo designers created the difference by establishing a coherent new design line of 22 tools with clean, well resolved looks. This enabled Jinding to sell to different retail brands like Jobmate and Kinzo.
