Ego Lifestyle B.V. asked VanBerlo to develop a new kind of notebook computer to meet the increasing demand for personalization in consumer electronics. The goal was to create a unique, premium quality product that could be individualized with interchangeable, lifestyle-oriented covers. Based on an idea of MvG Design, VanBerlo developed the product from start to finish in collaboration with several partners. To achieve the unique design of a personal lifestyle accessory, it was necessary to develop the EGO from scratch, inside and out. An innovative system configuration and new electronics engineering solutions were developed to make the round design and exchangeable covers possible. The brand identity and market introduction were developed by VanBerlo Communications. The result is the EGO, the world's first 'lifestyle notebook'. EGO was introduced during the Milan Fashion Week and at CeBIT in 2006. In 2007 the EGO received the prestigious Good Design Award and at the 2008 CES consumer electronics show in Las Vegas it received the Microsoft Fashion PC award.
