Philips commissioned VanBerlo to design a signage system for the High Tech Campus Eindhoven. This system had to encompass the plans put forward by the landscape architects JenG, and the infra-structural guidelines made by DHV consultants. VanBerlo proposed a theme of ‘high versus low tech’, which resulted in a range of products combining galvanised steel and stone with high-tech electronics to guide people to their destination.
The campus has 3 main zones defined by their ecological nature: water, forest and heathland. The signage and outdoor furniture within each zone are colour coded so users know the zone they are in at any time.
VanBerlo created the difference by designing and implementing a complete signage system based on the theme ‘high versus low tech.’ This theme combines the technological nature of the activities at the Campus with the natural character of the landscape. The whole product range comprises dynamic street signs for vehicles and pedestrians, maps, parking signs and building signage.
